Hello TGD Readers,
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are taking this week off from publishing a new interview. That means you’ve got a week to catch up on our archived interviews before we resume with publishing on November 20th. For those of you who are curious and want to know more about the aforementioned “unforeseen circumstances”, read on.
As most of you know, the place we and many of our friends call home—New York City—was in the path of Sandy, the hurricane turned superstorm. Thankfully, we are okay and were largely unaffected—we are safe, warm, and with shelter. We’ve also been lucky enough to keep up with our TGD publishing schedule with the exception of this week. The individual scheduled to be published today has spent the last two weeks helping with ongoing relief efforts in The Rockaways, a peninsula in Long Island that was devastated by Sandy. Without the ability to send us the remaining assets, we agreed to reschedule and publish her interview at a later date.
In the areas affected by Sandy, including The Rockaways, the need is incredible and the relief efforts continue. People lost homes, businesses, belongings, and in some cases, loved ones and pets. Many people have asked us what they can do to help. If you are able, please consider donating to the American Red Cross to aid in their efforts to provide shelter, food, supplies, and assistance to those affected by Sandy. In addition, if you’re in the NYC area and want to volunteer or donate supplies, Occupy Sandy has information on where you can do that.
If you’ve read this far, thank you. The events of the past two weeks have been a sobering reminder that the things we take for granted are not a given—our safe and warm apartment, the work we are privileged to do, and the people who mean the most to us. We are trying every day to remember that and to appreciate what we have and the people we love. We hope you’ll do the same.
Gratefully yours,
Ryan & Tina
